Die Post-Black Metal-Band DIE SÜNDE hat einen Labeldeal bei Time To Kill Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Italiener am 13. November 2026 ihr neues Album „Effemeridi“ veröffentlichen. Die Hardcore-Band CHILD OF CAESAR hat mit „Alive“ eine neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

„In ‘Alive’ geht es darum, sich von alten Überzeugungen, verinnerlichten Traditionen und der blinden Hoffnung auf äußere Erlösung zu befreien. Es verwandelt Elend und Selbstzerstörung in eine Art Wiedergeburt – den Moment, in dem man aufhört, ein Diener von Menschen geschaffener Götter und moralischer Gebote zu sein, seinen eigenen Ausweg findet und sich dafür entscheidet, nach seinen eigenen Vorstellungen zu leben“, sagt die Band.

Der Song wird Teil eines neuen Albums sein, welches 2027 über das wieder zurückgekehrte Label Combat Records erscheinen wird. Davor haben die Deutschen aus Köln mit „Love in Black“ (2015) und „Spirit & Liberation“ (2022) zwei Alben veröffentlicht.

Die Melodic Death Metal-Band ULTHIMA hat nun auch den Titeltrack ihres kommenden Albums „Midnight’s Call“ veröffentlicht.

„Textlich gesehen ist der Song als Metapher dafür gedacht, wie wir Erfolg, Macht und Ruhm erlangen und was wir dafür zu opfern bereit sind – sei es der Verlust unserer Prinzipien oder sogar unserer Moral, um dorthin zu gelangen, wo wir hinwollen, oder um das zu werden, was wir sein wollen. Es geht darum, sich selbst zu verlieren, nur um etwas zu erreichen, aber auch darum, sich zu fragen, ob es das wert ist, sich selbst zu verlieren oder nicht“, sagt die Band.

Vor einigen Wochen ist mit „Echoes of Silence“ der zweite Vorab-Track des Albums erschienen

„In dem Song geht es darum, die Narrative der Mächtigen zurückzuweisen, die Realität so zu sehen, wie sie ist, und zu lernen, mit den unangenehmen Seiten des Lebens umzugehen“, sagt Gitarrist Ricardo Escobar.

„Midnight’s Call“ ist nach „Symphony of the Night“ (2021) das zweite Album der Mexikaner und wird am 27. November 2026 via Inverse Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es auch den Song „White Raven“ zu hören. Der Song thematisiert den Weg von der Angst vor dem Tod hin zu dessen Akzeptanz als natürlichen Teil des Daseins. Geleitet vom Symbol des Weißen Raben verbindet der Song mythologische Bilder mit Reflexionen über die Sterblichkeit und stellt den Tod nicht als Ende, sondern als Übergang in die Ewigkeit dar.

There comes a moment in the miserable comedy of human existence when you realize that God, assuming one is up there somewhere, has probably grown tired of answering the telephone. We have spent centuries inventing elaborate explanations for our own stupidity, blaming fate, temptation, original sin, and occasionally the Devil himself for disasters bearing our unmistakable fingerprints. We pray (or at the least hope) for deliverance from wars we started, economic systems we designed, and appetites we cultivated with considerable enthusiasm. Somewhere along the way, salvation became another service we expected somebody else to provide. Perhaps the universe has finally decided to leave us on hold until we figure out how to clean up our own goddamn mess.

Austin, Texas darkwave and electronic rock outfit Mass Minor, the project led by Andrew J. Martin, Jr., has apparently reached a similar conclusion, and has chosen to deliver the bad news at 169 beats per minute. Their new single, Get Up, released through Metropolis Records, takes the ancient human pastime of pleading with the Almighty and subjects it to the considerable pressures of modern electronic music, where questions of sin, mortality, money, and spiritual bankruptcy compete for attention with synthesizers and electric guitars.

“This song is a conversation with God at 169 BPM about sin, money, mortality and the things we sacrifice our lives to,” explains Martin. “It comes from this idea of asking God to save us from problems we created ourselves. Maybe it’s not God’s job to save us. Maybe we need to fix our own shit. You’re the one holding the light. Get up.”

It’s a splendidly irreverent proposition, particularly in an age when nearly everybody seems convinced that civilization’s problems can be solved by finding the proper villain, purchasing the appropriate product, or waiting for some celestial authority to intervene. Martin locates the uncomfortable little truth buried beneath all that bargaining: we’ve become remarkably proficient at manufacturing our own misery and equally accomplished at outsourcing responsibility for it.

Musically, Mass Minor inhabits the territory where Depeche Mode’s electronic sensuality intersects with the widescreen emotional ambitions of Tears for Fears, the mechanical urgency of Nine Inch Nails, and the darker inclinations of Gary Numan. Martin’s combination of atmospheric synthesizers, driving guitars, and electronic rhythms lends itself naturally to a song concerned with the absurd velocity of contemporary life. At 169 BPM, Get Up makes its philosophical argument at a speed suggesting that humanity may be running out of time to consider the consequences of its more spectacular mistakes.

There’s also a fine streak of gallows humour running through the premise. Imagine finally getting an audience with the Creator, only to discover that your carefully prepared list of grievances reads suspiciously like an inventory of your own terrible decisions. The Almighty might reasonably ask why a species capable of splitting atoms, mapping distant galaxies, and inventing machines that can imitate thought remains incapable of exercising a little common sense. Martin has supplied a considerably shorter answer, and it comes with a beat you can move your body to.

The accompanying music video, directed by Teresa Jolie, with editing and visual effects by Beau Jason Loy and production by Simon Mars, brings the song’s themes into a more mysterious, symbolic realm. Starring Amy Martin, the video follows a blindfolded woman, perhaps an embodiment of Justice herself, as she wanders through a dark forest, singing into the darkness while navigating a world she cannot see. The imagery lends an allegorical dimension to the song, raising questions about truth, perception, and the peculiar predicament of Justice trying to find her way without sight.

Get Up appears on Beyond The Edge Of Reason, the project’s forthcoming album, scheduled for release in late February 2027. The record follows Mass Minor’s independently released 2020 debut, Become Each Other, and a succession of singles and EPs that have accompanied Martin’s growing presence in the dark alternative scene. Multiple appearances at SXSW and performances alongside Twin Tribes, Ultra Sunn, TRAITRS, Vision Video, Urban Heat, and Sacred Skin have helped establish the project within a generation of artists drawing fresh blood from the old electronic and post-punk traditions.

Humanity has always possessed a peculiar appetite for redemption, especially when redemption promises to spare us the inconvenience of changing our behavior. We construct heavens to compensate for the hells we’ve made on earth, then spend our remaining hours arguing over who deserves admission. Meanwhile, the poor, battered world continues turning, indifferent to our theological negotiations.

If God exists, perhaps He’s waiting for us to demonstrate that we have learned something from the extraordinary privilege of being alive. If He doesn’t, the responsibility remains exactly where it always belonged.

Either way, the light is already in our hands, and we’re wasting precious time asking somebody else to switch it on.

The erotic imagination has always been a marvelous little troublemaker, forever confusing the sacred with the profane, transforming vulnerability into pleasure, and reminding us that the human heart shares its cramped accommodations with some wonderfully disreputable tenants. Given sufficient trust, even submission can become an exquisite declaration of freedom, although explaining that to the average moral busybody might require several drinks and a very patient dominatrix.

Italian darkwave outfit This Eternal Decay have ventured into these deliciously compromised quarters with VIOLATE, the sixth single from their forthcoming album AMIGDALA, due January 15, 2027, via Swiss Dark Nights. The title carries the suggestion of transgression, while the song’s exploration of consensual BDSM examines the curious emotional arithmetic by which surrender becomes an expression of agency. Desire, after all, has never shown much respect for tidy philosophical categories, especially when two people have agreed to abandon their inhibitions and see where the evening takes them.

At the center of VIOLATE lies the erotic charge of willingly placing oneself in another person’s hands. Submission becomes a language of trust, charged with the knowledge that exposing one’s vulnerability can require considerably more courage than maintaining control. The attraction resides in that precarious exchange, where anticipation sharpens every sensation and the boundaries between pleasure, apprehension, and emotional release grow increasingly complicated. This Eternal Decay approaches these contradictions with an appetite for psychological unease, finding fertile ground in the strange negotiations between affection, obsession, and the desire to be possessed.

The accompanying video, directed by Riccardo Sabetti, with special effects by RVS, pushes this fascination into a feverish cinematic dimension. Drawing upon the confrontational erotic imagery of 1990s hardcore cinema, the dislocated identities of David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, and the immersive visual experimentation of Bill Viola, the film presents bodies as fragmented forms caught between fantasy and physical sensation. Reality seems to lose its structural integrity as flesh, movement, and distorted perception become expressions of longing and control. The imagery suggests a mind overwhelmed by its own appetites, where the familiar begins to look disturbingly foreign and desire acquires the peculiar logic of a dream from which nobody is particularly eager to awaken.

There is a mischievous philosophical question buried beneath all this erotic theatre: how much of ourselves must we give away before we begin to discover who we are? Perhaps the greater danger lies in finding someone who knows precisely where our deepest desires reside and possesses the patience to coax them into daylight. With VIOLATE, This Eternal Decay explore the seductions and uncertainties of that exchange, allowing tenderness, obsession, and the possibility of emotional ruin to share the same bed.

AMIGDALA promises to carry these preoccupations further, examining memory, desire, and the psychological injuries that continue influencing our relationships even when we would prefer to believe ourselves cured. Human beings have an extraordinary talent for returning to the sources of their deepest pleasure and pain, occasionally discovering that both have the same telephone number. If “VIOLATE” offers any advice, it might be to choose your accomplice carefully, establish your boundaries, and remember that the sweetest surrender begins with the freedom to say yes.

Das 18. Elektrisch Festival ist gerade mal 8 Monate her und schon steht noch im selben Jahr am 24.10. die Fortsetzung an. Das ist schon etwas bemerkenswert, zumal ringsum reihenweise Szene-Festivals auf Grund des geringen Vorverkaufs und hoher Kosten abgesagt werden. Neben der stets exzellenten Auswahl von nicht gerade alltäglich auftretenden Bands und Projekten, wie der familiären Atmosphäre im Club Seilerstrasse in Zwickau, liegt das vielleicht auch an der seit einigen Jahren das Festival begleitenden handlichen 10“Vinyl-Compilation, welche meist exklusive Tracks der jeweils dort auftretenden Musikern enthält. So auch diesmal oder doch nicht ganz, denn der Hauptact PORTION CONTROL steuert aus rechtlichen Gründen leider keinen Beitrag zu, was zwar schade ist, aber man auch verschmerzen kann. Allein schon die A-Seite der Compilation präsentiert drei absolut hochkarätige Tracks von ESCALATOR, OSZYLAYTER und CYBORG PROJEKT X, welche es richtig in sich haben. Das ist erstklassiger Old School Electro-Sound und weit entfernt vom inzwischen standardisierten „Weiber-Future-Pop“, wie man ihm auf dem Amphi, Mera Luna oder was weiß ich geboten bekommt! Insbesondere der Beitrag von ESCALATOR freut mich sehr, da ich selbst Anfang der 90er Jahre beim Urlaub am Balaton dort im Plattenladen eine CD der „ungarischen FRONT 242“ gekauft habe, die laut Discogs inzwischen einiges an Wert hat. Doch zurück zur Compilation, auf deren B-Seite die französischen KRIEG-B mit einem Remix von „Kill The Light“ eröffnen und das Original davon auf dem kommenden Album „Concrete Dominion“ bei Emmo.biz Records zu finden sein wird. Danach sollten dann ja eigentlich die englische Electro-Legende PORTION CONTROL kommen, an deren Platz jedoch SABOTAGE Q.C.Q.C.? mit einem aktuellen Remix von „Heidenagst“ und die französischen EBM-Punk-Veteranen von TÖT treten. Kein schlechter Ersatz würde ich mal behaupten. 222 Exemplare im bräunlich-klar schimmernden Vinyl gibt es davon am 24.10. in Zwickau zu erwerben, wenn PORTION CONTROL, ESCALATOR, OSZYLAYTER, CYBORG PROJEKT X und KRIEG-B über die Bühne im Club Seilerstrasse donnern. Restkarten dafür sind noch erhältlich und die dann übrig gebliebenen Vinyls gibt es später sicher auch noch direkt bei Emmo.biz Records kaufen. (Marco Fiebag)

Einschneidende Veränderungen gibt es bei THE OKLAHOMA KID: Sänger Tom und Schlagzeuger Dave haben die Band verlassen. Die Formation begründet die Entscheidung mit persönlichen und zeitlichen Gründen sowie kreativen Differenzen. Das neue Line-up komplettieren Max, Ilija sowie Sänger Tobias Rische (ex-NOVELISTS, ex-ALAZKA).

Jetzt hat die Gruppe mit „Burnout“ den zweiten Song in neuer Besetzung veröffentlicht. Die erste gemeinsame Single trägt den Titel „Spit„.

LOST IN HOLLYWOOD haben einen neuen Song veröffentlicht. „Way Too Close“ gibt es als Clip bei YouTube zu sehen und enthält einen Gastbeitrag von Nathanael Pulley (ARCHERS).

Produziert wurde der Track von Timo Bonner und Manuel Kohlert, Mix und Mastering wiederum übernahm Max Ivory.

Neue Musik aus dem Königreich Dundee: GLORYHAMMER veröffentlichen am 16. Oktober 2026 ihr fünftes Album „Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath“ und damit zugleich ein Story-Sequel des Zweitwerks „Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards“ (2015). Nun kann man sich auch ein Video zu „Starfighters Of Leuchars“ ansehen:

Die Modern / Alternative Metal-Band HOPSYDIAN hat einen Vertrag bei Arising Empire unterschrieben. Die EP „A Graceful Sin“ erschien am 24. Juli 2026, nun veröffentlichte die Gruppe die Scheibe am 9. Oktober 2026 auch auf CD und Vinyl. Zum Release folgte ein weiteres Musikvideo: „Heavenly“ bei YouTube.

Davor gab es mit „Elysium“ einen dritten Clip unter neuer Flagge.

Auch zur Debütsingle „Devote“ haben die Italiener ein Musikvideo gedreht. Außerdem kann man sich den Track „Sight“ anhören.

Hingabe ist so ein großes Wort, eines mit einer so tiefen und reichen Bedeutung, dass ich nicht aufhören kann, darüber nachzudenken. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ich in diesem Jahr, wann immer die Angst und Trauer wieder droht übermächtig zu werden, auf Andrej Tarkowskis Weisheit zurückgegriffen habe, auf seine Filme, auf das, was er gesagt hat. Und immer wenn ich hadere, komme ich auf seine Weltsicht zurück. Und dann erdet es mich und ich stelle fest, dass alles was zählt, Opferbereitschaft, oder auch Hingabe ist. Ziemlich offensichtlich, wenn man Kinder hat, die sich selbst – berechtigterweise! – ins Zentrum stellen. THE KEENING erzählen die Geschichte von „Devotion“ aus einer anderen, aber ebenso berührenden Sicht. Rebecca Vernon (ex-SUBROSA) begleitete ihren Vater in den letzten Jahren seines Lebens sehr intensiv, sodass sich der Kreis schließen konnte, Hingabe der Eltern an die Kinder und später vice versa.

THE KEENING mäandern zwischen Doom, American Gothic und Post Rock. „Devotion“ geht einen sehr eigenen Weg.
THE KEENING schrecken auf ihrem zweiten Album also nicht davor zurück, die großen Emotionen ins Zentrum zu stellen, auch weil es zwischendurch um die Schattenseite der Hingabe geht: Sucht. Manchmal liegen diese Pole so nah beieinander, dass unklar ist, was wirklich gefühlt wird. „Devotion“ lädt ein, sich in der Musik zu verlieren und zu reflektieren, es fließt ebenso wie Gefühle, die sich nur schwer kontrollieren lassen. Die erste Hälfte des Albums zeigt das sehr deutlich: Zwischen American Gothic, Post Rock und Doom mäandert „Devotion I – IV“, wobei THE KEENING vor allem bei der hypnotisch-schweren Doom Rock-Nummer in Hymnenqualität „Devotion III – The King“ alte SUBROSA-Qualitäten in den neuen Sound überführt und dann mit dem totalen Kontrast „Devotion IV – O Mother“ ein nahezu perfektes, zu Tränen rührendes Folk-Stück bietet, bei dem Klavier, Gesang und Streicher wie aus dem Lehrbuch arrangiert sind.

Nach diesen atemberaubenden Songs kann es auf dem zweiten Album von THE KEENING eigentlich nur bergab gehen, richtig? Rebecca Vernon nutzt dies allerdings zu ihrem Vorteil. Aus dem zunächst fast schon unspektakulären Folk von „A Little Bit Of Blood“ entsteht eine große, berührende Hymne, in der Rebecca Vernon mit großer Würde und viel Herzblut singt. „Time Travel“ bleibt vergleichsweise leise, ist aber umso dichter arrangiert und instrumentiert und erzeugt so eine ähnliche Erhabenheit wie das vorige Stück. Generell ist die zweite Hälfte von „Devotion“ ein klassischer Slow Burner, denn auch das abschließende „The Murder Of Anna Brown“ zelebriert American Gothic, liebäugelt mit einem großen, heavy Chorus und geht dann zurück in Richtung Folk. So nimmt sich die zweite Albumhälfte bewusst zurück und setzt auf einen langen Atem.

„Devotion“ kommt ohne große Effekte aus: THE KEENING zeigen wie reifes Songwriting klingen kann.
THE KEENINGs zweites Album endet leise, strahlt aber Faszination aus. Vielleicht eben weil die Dynamik nicht bis ins Äußerste ausgespielt wird und weil „Devotion“ dadurch eine elegante, feierliche Atmosphäre innewohnt. Rebecca Vernon lässt die Songs organisch fließen, statt mit jugendlicher Wut immer wieder in die Heaviness zu gehen. Das sorgt davor, dass vor allem „Devotion IV – O Mother“ im Gedächtnis bleibt und der Rest des Albums erarbeitet werden muss. Aber dank der äußerst vielschichtigen Instrumentierung, von Streichern bis Klarinette, legen sich die Kompositionen wie eine wärmende Decke um die Hörer*innen. Wenn die emotionale Bindung zwischen Musik und Publikum etabliert ist, öffnet sich das Album dann auch recht schnell.

„Devotion“ ist trotz allem kompakter als „Little Bird“ und fokussiert sich zusehends auf klassische Folk- und Singer-Songwriter-Strukturen, allerdings durch eine Doom-Brille betrachtet. Insofern gehen THE KEENING noch weiter als auf ihrem Debüt, obwohl, oder gerade weil es sich anfühlt, als wäre das Album reduzierter, vor allem in Bezug auf Songlängen. Die Kompaktheit tut dem Material gut, weil es auch die Emotionalität zu keiner Zeit verwässert. Im Gegenteil: THE KEENING zeigen auch musikalisch, wie Hingabe funktioniert. Die Hingabe an ein Album, an die Songs, im Vertrauen darauf, keine Aufmerksamkeit durch billige Tricks erhaschen zu müssen, ist etwas, das in diesen Tagen sehr wertvoll ist. Was bei all dem am wertvollsten ist: Zu spüren, wie tief die Verbindung zwischen Vater und Tochter gewesen sein muss. Allein deshalb strahlt „Devotion“ bei aller Trauer auch Hoffnung aus. Schönes Album!
