Davor hat die Band die Single „The Daylight Between Us“ mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

15.10.2026 - Jamal Bucanon Gives London’s Daily Grind a Crooked Groove on “Spill It”
By the time you’ve paid the rent, topped up your Oyster card, purchased a sandwich of increasingly questionable value, and surrendered eight hours of your life to somebody else’s idea of productivity, the average Londoner has approximately enough money left to contemplate the benefits of organized crime. The great British promise of upward mobility has become a practical joke played on people whose principal ambition is to make it through Thursday without checking their bank balance. Somewhere between the landlord, the boss, and the creeping suspicion that life has become one enormous direct debit, a man might reasonably begin to lose his patience. Fortunately, frustration makes excellent material for pop music, particularly when accompanied by a bassline that sounds capable of talking its way into an after-hours club.
Leicester-born, London-based Jamal Bucanon has plenty to say about the absurdities of ordinary existence, and his latest single, Spill It, released through Tropics’ new record label Modern Entity, finds him cultivating a wonderfully crooked corner of British indie rock and post-punk. There’s something gloriously disreputable about the groove, with a muscular backbeat, funky bass movement, and guitar work that seems to have wandered out of some particularly eccentric corner of the 1990s alternative underground. The guitars have a wiry, restless personality, occasionally sounding as though they’re arguing among themselves while the rhythm section carries on with the business of getting everybody moving. Fans of Australian oddballs Regurgitator will recognize a similar appetite for elastic rhythms, eccentric guitar figures, trip-hop and the gleeful collision of alternative rock with danceable funk.
Bucanon belongs to that fine British tradition of turning social irritation into entertainment, following a lineage that stretches through The Streets, Hak Baker, and Headache, with a considerable debt to the louche conversational mannerisms of Baxter Dury. His delivery suggests a man who has spent far too much time observing other people’s ridiculous behaviour to remain entirely polite about it. There’s humour in that resignation, and a wonderfully English capacity to make existential exhaustion sound like something overheard between pints.
Spill It‘s beat invites movement while the guitars keep matters deliciously askew, conjuring the days when alternative rock could be funky, funny, faintly menacing, and magnificently strange without worrying about which record-shop divider it belonged behind.
Bucanon’s music inhabits the uncomfortable territory between ambition and disillusionment, where the desire for change rubs against the exhausting mechanics of survival. And if the modern metropolis is determined to squeeze every last penny and remaining ounce of patience from its inhabitants, at least somebody has had the good sense to give the resulting irritation a decent backbeat.

15.10.2026 - ShadowMouth Explores Toxic Love and Digital Disconnection on Debut Album “Modern Alchemy”

Can’t kill what’s already dead
Can’t replace that which bled
Can’t run from what’s inside
Can’t kill kill what just won’t die
Some relationships ought to come with warning labels, preferably printed in large red letters and delivered before anyone exchanges passwords. Unfortunately, human beings possess an extraordinary talent for mistaking emotional catastrophe for romantic destiny, particularly when the person ruining their lives happens to share their taste in music, sexual depravity, and unresolved childhood grievances. Social media has helpfully expanded the arrangement, giving our worst attachments round-the-clock access to our attention. Between the person we cannot stop checking on and the platform encouraging us to check again, somebody is always profiting from our inability to leave.
Such thoroughly modern afflictions provide fertile material for ShadowMouth, the Western Pennsylvania goth/industrial project led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rick Polo, also known for his work in Baroque Monody and Heck Vektor. The project’s debut full-length, Modern Alchemy, is out digitally October 14 via Death of the Party Records, with vinyl and CD editions following October 16. Across eight tracks, Polo takes stock of damaged relationships, digital dependence, and the increasingly profitable business of telling other people who they ought to be.
Working alongside drummer and producer Brooks Farris, Polo brings gothic rock, post-punk, industrial force, and heavy alternative rock into the same combustible enterprise. Following the 2024 EP Purification By Fire, the album extends ShadowMouth’s interest in personal transformation into a broader examination of the forces competing for control of our lives. A bad lover, an intolerant preacher, and a social media platform may employ different methods, but each can become remarkably invested in keeping its audience obedient.
The songs approach that predicament from several directions. We Are Sentient imagines a machine uprising, giving technological anxiety a distinctly apocalyptic scale. DOOM SCROLLERS vs HOLY ROLLERS takes aim at online cruelty and religious hypocrisy, while Your Words, Not Mine considers the exhaustion of having one’s identity shaped by the endless performance of being online. By the closing The Weight of the Algorithm is the Sum of Our Death, the question has become brutally direct: who assigns a person’s value when every thought, ambition, and exchange can be reduced to a number?
Those public pressures become painfully intimate on album highlight Trauma Bonds, featuring guest vocalist Sounds Pretty Grim, the personality behind the YouTube channel of the same name. Ferocious drumming and heavy-metal guitars support enormous, thundering vocals that suggest Dave Vanian of The Damned has spent a particularly unpleasant evening drinking with Peter Steele of Type O Negative. Sounds Pretty Grim delivers the song’s emotional wreckage with the conviction of someone reading aloud from a particularly incriminating collection of private correspondence.
The guitars carry considerable weight, their metallic attack rubbing against the track’s gothic grandeur, while Farris hammers away with the enthusiasm of a man determined to settle several outstanding personal disputes before the final chorus. Beneath the theatrical violence lies the exhausting recognition that knowing a relationship is poisonous does little to diminish its hold. The refrain’s insistence that something already dead cannot be killed gives the song its horrible logic: the relationship has ended, yet its damage continues to dictate the terms.
“Trauma Bonds touches on the toxic relationships and social connections we cannot seem to shake in the digital age,” says Rick Polo. “With 24/7, open-door access to everyone’s exaggerated personal affairs via social networking, it has become increasingly difficult to recognize and refute toxic behaviour in our day-to-day lives. We often accept the love and behavior we feel we deserve and what’s reinforced by online culture. This track addresses the need to break from those habits, reconnect with oneself and alchemize healthier lifestyles.”
That desire to recover some authority over one’s own life connects the track to the rest of Modern Alchemy. Course Correction (End-to-End Encryption) takes on inherited rules and punishment for disobedience, while The Promise of Alchemy entertains the possibility of change through a shared awakening. The latter features The Elder Goths, the vocal trio of Cassandra Bishop, Gina Schultz, and Lauren O’Janpa, who also appear on The Death of Chemistry. Bishop supplies the lyrics for The Promise of Alchemy; Schultz writes those of The Death of Chemistry, bringing temptation and predatory power into the album’s wider concerns.
Polo handles vocals, guitar, bass, keys, Bass VI, and programming, with Farris providing live and programmed drums. Farris also produced, engineered, and mastered the album at Electric Fox Studio, and shares writing credits on The Promise of Alchemy and Your Words, Not Mine. Original cover art and concept come from Rhiannon V. Williams-Bohac.
For all its gothic thunder, Modern Alchemy concerns itself with a practical problem: how to reclaim a life that other people and their technologies have made themselves comfortable occupying. Trauma Bonds gives that struggle its most personal confrontation, turning the miserable persistence of a destructive attachment into a splendidly excessive gothic rock performance.

15.10.2026 - Synthpop Duo Normal Bias Confront Propaganda and Media Addiction in Their Surreal Video for “Soft Power”

There is a peculiar efficiency to a system that keeps us furious and distracted at the same time. Give the public an endless supply of things to watch, opinions to absorb, and strangers to argue with, and attention becomes a resource everyone can exploit except its owner. The daily spectacle makes being informed feel suspiciously similar to being exhausted. Somewhere between the next advertisement and the next catastrophe, we begin mistaking our participation in the feed for participation in the world. Power can afford to speak softly when everyone else is busy shouting silently into an iPhone.
New York and Atlanta duo Normal Bias examine that arrangement with Soft Power, their first new material since 2024’s Kingdom Come. The partnership of Matt Weiner, known for TWINS (That Which Is Not Said), and Chris Campion of Multiple Man returns with a seductive piece of electronic pop and a wonderfully peculiar video. The single offers the first taste of their forthcoming LP, Ways of Keeping Clean, due in 2027 via DKA Records.
Soft Power takes its time establishing the terms. Anxious, boxy synth shuffles move through the opening, their cramped little repetitions creating an itch beneath the surface. When the deep, bouncy EBM bassline enters, the arrangement acquires a deliciously elastic physicality, its low end giving those nervous electronic gestures something substantial to push against. Weiner sings with smooth, insinuating assurance, somewhere between Dave Gahan’s seductive allure and Frank Tovey’s sly theatricality. He sounds thoroughly at ease inside the song’s machinery, giving each phrase the persuasive intimacy of a proposition made at close quarters.
Campion complicates that invitation with a choir of eerie, horn-like synthesizers and warbling distortions, allowing strange shapes to swell around the vocals. There is a wonderful sense of mischief in the way the parts interact, with the bass maintaining its bounce while the upper registers grow increasingly disorienting. The track goes toe-to-toe with Cabaret Voltaire at their most pop-minded, recalling the point where their electronic experiments became improbably irresistible songs. It has the thrill of an extraordinary record discovered among a box of 1980s underground imports, the kind that makes you wonder how you managed to live without it. Normal Bias are one of the best synth-pop acts in the world right now, and Soft Power makes a persuasive case for that distinction.
The duo describes the song as a confrontation with “the numbing effects of propagandized multimedia addiction”, connecting compulsive media consumption with the destructive conduct it enables among leaders and institutions. That concern gives the music’s seductive ease an uncomfortable implication: an invitation can be difficult to question when it feels this good.
Directed by Logan Devlin and Normal Bias, the video places the pair inside an animated desert where perspective, anatomy, and time have become negotiable. Floating heads trail curved piano keyboards; purple doors open onto impossible spaces; metallic figures run across dunes beneath a yellow-orange sky. Weiner performs beside Campion on a checkerboard floor, looking remarkably composed for someone surrounded by this much visual misconduct. Clocks bend, faces fragment, and the image periodically breaks into analog interference. It suggests Salvador Dalí being given the controls of an early computer graphics workstation, with two exceptionally well-dressed musicians patiently waiting for him to finish. John Manfredi shot the video, with 3D animation support from Alex Gorman-Noelke.
Watch the video for Soft Power below:
From the industrial body funk of their 2022 self-titled EP to the melodic assurance of Kingdom Come, Normal Bias have developed an unusually deft relationship between electronic oddity and pop pleasure. Their debut LP earned a place in Post-Punk.com’s Best of 2024, while videos for Falling Down and Holy established a visual sensibility every bit as distinctive as their music.
Soft Power (Radio Edit) is available now on Spotify and Apple Music. Listen below:

14.10.2026 - She Past Away Announces 2027 North American “Mizantrop” Tour with Expanded Live Lineup

For a band with an album called Mizantrop, She Past Away keep a remarkably busy social calendar. The Turkish darkwave mainstays have announced a June 2027 tour of the United States and Mexico, bringing their latest record across the Atlantic with an expanded live lineup and a brand new video show.
The duo—Volkan Caner (vocals, guitar, songwriting) and Doruk Öztürkcan (drums, synths, production)—will be joined by a live bassist, giving North American audiences their first chance to experience She Past Away as a trio. The addition of another musician marks an evolution in a stage presentation whose economy has long been part of its appeal, while new visuals promise a fresh setting for the band’s severe electronic rhythms and distinctive guitar melodies.
The eight-date run begins on June 1 at Boston’s Royale and continues through Brooklyn, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles before concluding on June 16 at Mexico City’s Auditorio Blackberry. The Denver appearance takes place at Ritual Noize Fest on June 6. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 16, 2026.
Released earlier this year, Mizantrop is She Past Away’s fourth studio album and their first since 2019’s Disko Anksiyete. Its seven songs extend the band’s stark aesthetic through carefully measured arrangements, dense electronic textures, and Caner’s unmistakable guitar work. LP and CD editions are available now through Metropolis Records, alongside titles from the band’s back catalogue. Order here.
As we noted in our earlier coverage of Mizantrop, the title track broadens She Past Away’s darkwave sound with a stronger French coldwave influence, its guitar melody moving through minor chords that recall Asylum Party and Mary Goes Round. That musical restraint gives shape to a song about disillusionment and the exhaustion of being judged for it. Volkan Caner sings from the perspective of someone who finds little encouragement in the world around him, whose pessimism and withdrawal have made him an object of ridicule. The labels addressed in the lyrics are the personal judgments others attach to his outlook, reducing his disappointment with humanity to an undesirable character trait. His repeated declaration, “Believe me, I don’t care,” becomes a means of protecting himself from those judgments, drawing a boundary around how much influence other people’s opinions can have over his life.
İnziva, whose title translates as “seclusion” or “retreat,” considers the emotional cost of withdrawing from the world. Its lyrics contemplate an uneasy bargain: abandoning the pursuit of happiness might also free someone from sorrow and fear, but the prospect of endless loneliness accompanies that release. The video gives this desire for escape a suitably disturbing setting. Directed by Nedda Afsari and Michael E. Linn of Muted Widows, and produced by Michael Zumaya, the film follows Brooks Ginnan through slanted corridors and distorted rooms, carrying a mysterious glowing egg past figures embodying greed, lust, and disease. Drawing on the exaggerated gestures and unsettling architecture of German Expressionist silent cinema, particularly The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, these encounters make the surrounding world appear increasingly hostile. Within that setting, the song’s retreat into solitude begins to feel like an understandable response to human company, even as the film offers little reassurance that escape will bring peace.

Mizantrop by She Past Away
Formed in Bursa, Turkey, in 2006, She Past Away have built an international following around Turkish-language songs that connect post-punk guitar, gothic restraint, and electronic precision. Their 2020 remix collection X, marking ten years since their debut EP, brought together reworks by Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon, Clan of Xymox, Front 242, and Lebanon Hanover, among others. Years of touring have made that international kinship tangible; next June, the band will return with another pair of hands onstage and a different way of presenting the songs.

14.10.2026 - DROPOUT KINGS: neues Video „Deadname“

August an!
November 2025.

14.10.2026 - BRING ME THE HORIZON: L.I.V.E. in São Paulo (Live Immersive Virtual Experiment) [Live]
Denn „L.I.V.E. in São Paulo“ zeigt BRING ME THE HORIZON auch ohne Bildspur auf dem Zenit ihres Schaffens.
Die Bühnenqualitäten BRING ME THE HORIZONs fängt „L.I.V.E. in São Paulo“ gut ein

14.10.2026 - JØTNARR: Feet First On The Corpse Path
Extremer Metal & emotionaler Hardcore in Perfektion

14.10.2026 - NYC Post-Punk Veterans CALLA Release “DE FACTO,” Their First Studio Album in 19 Years

New York’s indie scene of the late 1990s and early 2000s has since been reduced to an “indie sleaze” scrapbook sprawled across social media. At the time, however, it was a loose community of bands exploring new possibilities in post-punk, garage rock, art-rock, and experimental music. That retrospective label makes it sound like the whole affair amounted to a blurred party photo by Cobrasnake, or someone passing out in the basement of Lit, with the records serving merely as something to do between hangovers. Yet across the East Village and Brooklyn, musicians shared stages while developing distinct identities. Interpol pursued brooding, angular post-punk; the Yeah Yeah Yeahs brought a feral, stylish edge to art-punk; The Walkmen made ragged, romantic indie rock; Blonde Redhead explored dissonant, dreamlike art-rock; and Secret Machines delivered propulsive, motorik psychedelia. Despite their differences, they shared an appetite for invention and the sense that a band could make the city sound unfamiliar again. Ultimately, the scene’s appeal lay in that variety: each group followed its own obsessions while finding sympathetic company along the way.
As part of the scene’s early groundwork, CALLA drew on musical traditions across the spectrum. Aurelio Valle brought experience from rockabilly and garage bands; Wayne B. Magruder, from experimental electronics and percussion. Together, they fused those influences with blues and roots, the spaciousness of slowcore, and shoegaze’s densely layered guitars, forging a post-punk sound that made space for both melody and experimentation. Nineteen years after their last studio album, CALLA are back in the conversation—with new material and a little unfinished business.
Now, CALLA return with DE FACTO, their sixth studio album and first since 2007’s Strength In Numbers. Released on Aurelio Valle’s Nuevo Leon Recordings, the twelve-track set emerged from a run of jam sessions that opened the door to a new body of work. Trading sessions between Texas and New York, the band honed its arrangements, threading glam and Americana through CALLA’s expansive guitar sound. Born amid political upheaval, social unrest, and personal reflection, DE FACTO meets the moment with resilience, urgency, and hope.
That breadth extends to the album’s three interpretations of other artists’ material: Eddy Grant’s “Killer on the Rampage,” a Nina Simone-inspired reading of “Sinnerman,” and T. Rex’s “Ride A White Swan.” The selections bring different musical histories into the same room, a fitting approach for a band whose own background has always reached across genres.
There is also a return to their own catalogue. “Paralyzed” reimagines “Stand Paralyzed,” a song from Strength In Numbers that Valle originally conceived with Lou Reed in mind. The new recording gives its restrained predecessor a broader arrangement, with sweeping guitar riffs opening up the song’s emotional scale. For Valle, revisiting it offered an opportunity to follow an idea that the pace of touring and recording had once cut short.
Aurelio Valle explains:
“Paralyzed” is a reimagined recording of “Stand Paralyzed,” originally released on our 2007 album Strength in Numbers on Beggars Group. At the time, we were touring heavily and racing to finish the record, so while we’re proud of it, some songs never felt completely finished. This was always one of our favorites. I was originally trying to write a Lou Reed-style song, and although we loved its stripped-down approach, we always felt there was more we could do with it. We approached “Paralyzed” almost like a cover version or a remix of our own song. Revisiting it now felt less like remaking something and more like picking up where we left off.”
Watch the visualizer for “Paralyzed” below:
Formed in New York and Brooklyn in 1996, CALLA emerged from a vibrant musical community alongside Interpol, The Walkmen, Secret Machines, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Blonde Redhead. Early ties to Jonathan Fire-Eater and Speedball Baby, coupled with guidance from Kid Congo Powers and Michael Gira, helped set the band’s course. Their recordings found homes at Sub Rosa, Young God Records, Arena Rock, and Beggars Group. Years on the road brought them onto bills with The National, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Cat Power, as well as their New York contemporaries.
Between CALLA albums, Valle continued his work as a producer and composed music for documentaries, television, and film. His 2014 solo album, Acme Power Transmission, featured “Electraglide,” written for and performed by Nina Persson of The Cardigans. CALLA’s current lineup brings Valle’s guitars, keys, vocals, songwriting, and production together with Wayne B. Magruder’s drums, programming, and percussion, and Peter Gannon’s bass.
DE FACTO is available to stream and purchase on Bandcamp. The vinyl pre-order includes a hand-numbered, 140-gram translucent Coke Bottle Green LP, limited to 300 copies worldwide, along with a poster, lyrics, and insert. Orders are expected to ship on or around November 9, 2026.
